Six convicts executed in public in Iran

Tehran: Six people have been executed in public in the northeastern Iranian city of Sabzevar, state radio said on Monday.
This is the second report of a public execution in the Islamic Republic in less than a week.
In January, judiciary chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi ordered a halt to public executions in Iran unless they were "based on social necessities."
The radio did not give details about the convicts or their crimes, but described them as "wicked" people.
Executions in Iran typically take place in prisons.
On Saturday, an Iranian newspaper reported four convicted murderers were hanged in public in the southern province of Bushehr.
