[[Islamic Republic]] Iran on Thursday hanged three men convicted of murdering a man in the city of Qazvin, north of the country, the Fars news agency reported.

The report did not identify them but said that the murder occurred five years ago. There was no additional information.

The hanging brings to 231 the number of executions in Iran so far this year, according to an AFP tally based on media and official reports.

Human Rights Watch counted 388 executions in Iran in 2010, while Amnesty International put the figure at 252, ranking the Islamic republic second only to China in the number of people put to death last year.

Tehran - Iran has hanged four people for crimes ranging from drug trafficking, rape and murder, local media said on Sunday, bringing the total number of executions so far this year to 227, according to an AFP tally.

An unnamed drug trafficker convicted of shooting a policeman fighting a convoy of narcotics smugglers in eastern Iran was among those executed, the official IRNA news agency, without specifying the day of the hanging.

Another news agency, ISNA, said two men found guilty of drug trafficking were hanged on Sunday in a prison in the northern city of Sari. The report did not identify them.

The city's prosecutor's office was quoted as saying the two were "chief elements" in the sale and distribution of drugs in Sari.

And state television's website reported that a young man aged 25 was publicly hanged last Wednesday in the town of Marvdasht after being convicted of rape and abduction.

AFP's 2011 execution count is based on media and official reports.

Human Rights Watch counted 388 executions in Iran in 2010, while Amnesty International put the figure at 252, ranking the Islamic republic second only to China in the number of people put to death last year.

One execution and four amputations in the prison of Isfahan central

One prisoner was executed and four other prisoners were punished with amputation of the limbs in the prison of Isfahan today Saturday October 8. According to the Iranian news agency ILNA, a 67 years old prisoner (picture), who is identified as “Ahmad” and known as “the old fox” in the Iranian media, was hanged in the central prison of Isfahan this morning. The prisoner was convicted of raping 37 women according to the official Iranian reports.

Quoting Mohammadreza Habibi, the public and revolutionary prosecutor of Isfahan, ILNA reported that along with the execution of the 67 year old man, four other unidentified prisoners who were sentenced to “Hadd” for robbery, were punished according to Sharia law today. According to Habibi these prisoners were sentenced for many cases of robbery. The report did not give any details about the punishments.

Article 201 of the Iranian Islamic Penal Code says: “The Hadd for theft, for the person’s first offence, is cutting off the four fingers of the right hand leaving the thumb and palm of the hand. The Hadd for the person’s second offence is cutting off the left foot leaving the fingers of the foot to the ankle intact. The Hadd for the third offence is the thief shall be sentenced to prison for life. And, the Hadd for the fourth offence, when the person commits theft in prison, is death by hanging”.

Iran on Wednesday hanged three convicted drug traffickers in a prison in the southern city of Kerman, the ISNA news agency reported.

The report identified the men sent to the gallows as Ahmad A., Mohammad R., and Karim Sh. They were found guilty of smuggling heroin.

The hangings bring to 218 the number of executions reported in Iran so far this year, according to an AFP tally based on media and official reports.

Five people hanged in [[Islamic Republic]]Iran – 26 executions in 10 days

According to the Iranian state media five people were hanged in three different parts of Iran. According to the official Iranian news agency IRNA, one man identified as Koosha was hanged publically in Tehran yesterday morning. Koosha was convicted of murdering a fellow student by the name Mahsa in July 2011. The execution was conducted at the site of the murder. Footage of the execution was shown on the Iranian TV. State run Iranian news agency Fars reported that a prisoner identified as Mostafa Moshafaghian was hanged publically in the city center of Borazjan (province of Bushehr southern Iran). The prisoner was convicted of murdering four members of a family in January 2011, said the report.

The Fars news agency also reported about execution of three prisoners in the prison of Qom (south of Tehran) yesterday morning September 13. According to the report the three prisoners were identified as “M. M.” convicted of 5300 grams of heroin, “A. B.” for keeping 4975 grams of crack and “M.D.” for trafficking of 8892 grams of crack.

According to the reports from Iran at least 26 people have been executed in that last 10 days in Iran. Iran Human Rights (IHR) strongly condemns yesterday’s executions that are meant as an instrument to create fear among the people. Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, the spokesperson of IHR said:” Most of the people executed are tried behind the closed doors and are not identified, so we can’t confirm who they are, what they actually have done and whether they have had access to lawyers”. He added: “The international community must act urgently in order to stop the ongoing execution wave in Iran”.

TEHRAN — Iran hanged five people on Tuesday, three of them for drug trafficking and two in public for murder, local media reported.

In the capital, a 25-year-old convicted of murder after he confessed to stabbing a fellow student to death in broad daylight in early July was sent to the gallows near the scene of the crime, a bridge in northwest Tehran, the state television website reported.

The man, who was identified only by his first name Kousha, had carried out the crime after the victim spurned him, the website added.

In the southern town of Dashtestan, a man was hanged in public after being found guilty of murdering four members of a family a year ago, the Fars news agency reported.

In the central shrine city of Qom, Fars said that three convicted drug smugglers it identified by the initials of M.M., A.B. and M.D. were hanged. It did not specify whether the execution was carried out in public or in prison.

The latest hangings bring to 197 the number of executions reported in Iran so far this year, according to an AFP tally based on media and official reports.

Iranian media reported 179 hangings last year but international human rights groups say the actual number was much higher, ranking the Islamic republic second only to China in the number of people it executed in 2010.

Five people hanged – one man scheduled to be executed publically in [[Islamic Republic]]Tehran

Five prisoners were hanged in the prison of Shahroud in Semnan province (north of Iran) early this morning. According to the official site of the judiciary in Semnan they were all convicted of drug trafficking. None of those executed today were identified by name or age.

The state run Iranian news agency Fars reported that a man identified as Koosha (no picture) is scheduled to be hanged publically in Tehran tomorrow September 13. He is convicted of murdering a girl by the name Mahsa on July 6th this year.

The execution is scheduled to take place at the Modiriat Bridge located in northwestern Tehran, where the murder took place.

According to the reports from Iran, at least 22 people have been executed in the last 9 days in Iran and several executions are scheduled to take place in the coming days.

The spokesperson of Iran Human Rights, Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam strongly condemned the execution wave in Iran and urged the international community to put pressure on the Iranian authorities in order to stop the barbaric executions.
